ABOUT MATTHEW R. LEMME

Matthew Lemme is a third-generation attorney, and the fifth in his family. Despite this longstanding tradition, he did not enter the profession in a traditional way. His career began as an officer with the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He worked in Kentucky prisons while earning his undergraduate degree. As a college graduate, he worked with the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer, while attending law school.
After graduation, Lemme prosecuted criminal cases in Kentucky and Indiana for 10 years of his career, including a time as Chief Deputy Prosecutor. As an attorney prosecuting criminal cases, Lemme advised and trained police and other law enforcement officers in Indiana and Kentucky. Lemme has prosecuted and defended the most serious criminal matters. In civil matters, as an Assistant County Attorney, City Attorney, and private practitioner, he has represented and defended cities, mayors, police, legislators, law enforcement officer, and other government employees in state and federal court.
Matthew Lemme sits under photos of his grandfather and father– a 55 year family legacy representing people.
Lemme has used the knowledge and experience he has gained in these roles to represent people whose civil rights have been violated by police or other government workers. He has recovered damages for his clients for harms inflicted by police.
Lemme handles select family law cases. His preferred focus is on those cases where persons have been subject to abusive tactics by a litigant or their attorneys. He seeks opportunities to hold those legally accountable who abuse the processes which are intended to protect families and children. He is fiercely protective of parent-child relationships. He does not represent people that wish to needlessly remove a child from another parent.
Also, his experience in high conflict matters has brought him invitations to lead litigation efforts in contested probate and estate matters. Lemme is licensed in Kentucky and Indiana and is admitted to all Federal Courts in those states as well.
Lemme is married and he and his wife have 4 adult children between them. Lemme is often accompanied to the office by his dog, Queso.
